Yes, although the blog has remained in this state for some time, the McDonnell family has not.
We have settled into a new school year and vacation is now over, so I will, hopefully, return to somewhat regular blogging. I make no promises, though. I have the best of intentions, but with homework, extra-curricular activities, my full-time day job, the boys that don’t go to bed until 9:00 - 9:30 p.m., and the little girl who won’t go to bed without Mommy upstairs, it’s quite difficult to muster time and energy to trek back downstairs when everyone is tucked in snug in their beds and I have laundry to put away and cleaning to do!
In case you’re wondering, here’s what’s been going on in our daily busy world:
Andrew
- Turned 10 earlier this month! Can’t believe that one – he’s so excited to be a “double digit”!
- Is now taking Intermediate Guitar lessons through the community college - and yes, he still takes drum lessons through school – can you say future rock star? He can; at least he’s hoping! J
- His best friend ended up in his 5th grade class after some beginning school year shuffling of students. Originally, Matt was across the hall, but now they have the same teacher. Both are ecstatic since they’ll be in different middle schools next year.
Benjamin
- Went to 2 birthday parties in 2 days this past weekend.
- Has really taken off in the reading department.
- Thoroughly enjoyed golf camp and is now contemplating an indoor soccer league!
Caroline
- Is infatuated with headbands. Loves to wear them in her hair. As a matter of fact, 90% of the time, it’s the only thing she’ll keep in her hair!
- Is still singing like Ariel any chance she gets, though she also loves to sing “Little Wonders” by Rob Thomas and “8th World Wonder” by Kimberly Locke, while throwing in an occasional “Dancing Queen” by ABBA.
- Is totally and completely a Mama's girl. I think it's because she's a lot like me. (poor thing)
Scott
- Golf and football still consuming his time – that will never change!
- Enjoyed our vacation week at Disney last week – it was his first long vacation week in about a year – much overdue and needed!
- Was beaten by Andrew several times over on Guitar Hero for the PS2.
- Crashed my laptop with a stinkin’ horrible virus – most likely acquired from a fantasy football site. (Have I ever mentioned that I’m not a huge sports fan?)
Me
- Trying to squeeze in scrapping time whenever possible (got a few pages done at the end of August – nothing so far in September).
- Finishing up an awesome photography course – hopefully it will improve my skills since I so love this craft (just need some assistance in the technical part).
- Totally annoyed with my desktop computer at home. It’s desperately in need of more RAM and is having a difficult time functioning in any program. The Adobe PhotoShop program is having a particularly hard time and that’s what I use my computer for most – photos and digital work!
- Did I mention that I successfully put music on 3 IPOD Shuffles before we left for Disney? It was total chaos trying to get this to work. (Mostly due in part to Scott’s laptop crash!) (Each of the boys got a shuffle for the plane ride surprise; Caroline got a leapster game!)
So that’s a bit of what’s been going on. The kids are all involved in programs at the Y on Saturdays (fortunately the boys’ program is the same time as LinaBean’s, so we’re only there a short while). We just returned from Disney World this past Friday night (3 days ago) and none of us are readiy to be back at home, work or school! It was blazing hot and humid, but tons of fun – but hey, that can be another entry! Hopefully, the computer will get back with the program and I can share those photos/post soon!
‘Til then have a happy one!
