So at my previous trip to Target (the one that was under $200), I picked up this great book holder. I had intended to use it to hold my scrap pages for display like this:
I thought it would really look nice. I could display a current layout on the ledge in the Dining Room to share before it went in the book.
Apparently, someone in my family decided to re-purpose my new purchase. When I was looking for it to use last week, I couldn't find it. Once located, it had made it's way to the TV Room and was being used in a new, very creative way. Still not sure who did it (everyone denies "stealing" my book holder, but this is what it looked like when I finally found it:
Kind of funny, yet inventive right? Especially considering one remote is always missing, and, naturally, it's the one you need to use! :) Whichever family member re-purposed the holder removed the tag, but left the plastic tag attacher still attached to the top rim. Leads me to believe it was one of the munchkins, not the husband!
Anyway, I have grabbed it back and it's currently in my scrap room. I'll move it to it's permanent spot upstairs soon, but I think I need to find a home for the remotes first. We've tried many different things, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions for something unique and different? We've had baskets, remote holders, the thing that hangs over the sofa. For some reason, we have yet to find the "right" storage for us.
Felt a little scrappy today. Actually, I had to. Ordered and received 1,035 pictures from Winkflash and couldn't stand to see them just sitting around. Went to a Silent Auction to benefit Caroline's school and spent $49.50 on scrappin' supplies that were being sold. Also, can't bear to stare at the new supplies my mother-in-law bought without feeling guilty for not using them right now. So, I jumped in for a couple of hours and came up with a layout (really quick) and worked on the kids' autograph book from Disney World. When we were MIA from the blog this past Fall, one of the adventures we took was to Disney World. Just Scott, the kids and I. It was the best vacation ever and I had decided to make each child an autograph book before we left. They turned out really cute with my bind-it-all machine. My thought was that when we got back I would just print out the photos of the kids with the characters, place them next to the character's autograph and it would save a ton of time scrapbooking every photo. I still plan to do an 8x8 album of the miscellaneous photos, but since we have several 12x12 albums of our Disney trips, I wanted to do something different this time. The books are moving rather quickly and I think the kids will have fun looking at these instead of a large album this time.
Here's my layout:
The photo isn't too great. I was trying to rush, but I was pleased with the layout. I finally figured out that it's okay that my Cricut doesn't cut chipboard. I just cut out the "so good" phrase 3 times and layered the letters on top of each other to make that part of the title stand out more. It seemed to work okay. The photos in this layout are pretty recent and I knew as soon as I took them that it was a layout waiting to be created! The journaling explains the story exactly. Just double click on the photo at the right and you can read it to understand my title.
So my Target trip this week (topped the $200 mark) was also very successful! I found an end table for my side of the bed in the clearance section of the World Bazaar or Global Whatever thing they have every year after Christmas. The table was the perfect size, regularly priced at $100 and I got it for $25! Woo-Hoo! Next, we went down the aisle and I found this awesome oversized bowl for only $5 (it was also 75% off like the table) and a great oversize glass lantern for only $10 (triple score at 75% off)! Great scores, eh?
Nothing too new and exciting to report.
Andrew continues to impress me with his good manners and thoughtfulness. I was thinking that he was becoming a little forgetful and dingy lately, but on Friday he held the door for two ladies at the post office and I realized that he is paying attention to the world around him even though he seems preoccupied with Pokemon and music!
Benjamin is doing phenomenal in Kindergarten this year! What a good decision it was to do a repeat year. He's way into his Pokemon also, but Mr. UltraSensitive always has time for a cuddle and kiss for his Mommy. He's very good with Caroline, too, and looks after her without being asked. Of course, he's had quite a few illnesses - but that's nothing new. What's new is that he actually made the HWES newsletter - a special note was sent home to all parents at the school about our Ben! It was the emergency health note notifying them that a child at the school had Fifth's Disease! Yep, that was our boy! :)
Caroline is just chatty and busy. They are the two easiest words to sum her up. Oh, add happy most of the time, but horrific meltdowns when unhappy! She's working on the whole potty training thing. Is doing really well the past few days, but I hesitate to say she's gotten the hang of it and set her loose with big girl panties just yet - though we have plenty of them!
Lola destroyed her bed in her crate this week. She seems to like it that way with the fluff all hanging out, so we're leaving it.
I'm also fumbling around a bit with some digi scrapbooking. It's fun, but I can't see it replacing my regular scrapbooking.
Happy Night to you and yours! Will try to share more in the middle of the week - assuming, that is, there is something worth sharing! ;)
